AHTS rates jump

Charterers have been forced to pay up for North Sea vessels as the tonnage list shrank.

A total of 11 anchor-handlers were fixed for three rig moves and pre-lay work.

Lundin reportedly paid NOK 325,000 for Siem and Topaz ships, while Premier Oil and BP had to find £25,000 and £30,000 per day for other vessels.

The deals cut the number of available ships in Norway to two, while the UK was down to six.

PSVs were weaker, with just one vessel booked for £3,750, with nearly 20 ships open in the UK.
